What is this Rodan + Fields Business Opportunity About?

You may be thinking about joining Rodan + Fields business opportunity? Or maybe your were just looking for any business opportunity to earn extra money, and the one at Rodan + Fields seems attractive at the moment? I’m here to give you the full review about what Rodan + Fields is all about. I’ll tell you about the products, and the compensation plan to help you make a good decision whether this business opportunity is worth joining or not. I’ll give you my final opinion at the end, but for now let’s focus on the facts.

Pros & Cons

PRO #1 – Cheap business to start/ great compensation plan
PRO #2 – great skin care products
PRO #3 – huge network of Rodan + Fields reps

CON #1 – no real training
CON #2 – lack of reality preached
CON #3 – don’t see a personalized website available
Update: personalized website $24.95 a month (optional)

trainingThe Pros are pretty self explanatory, and I’ll surely be giving you more information about the products and comp plan. Not to mention, I’d be happy to join a network like Rodan + Fields because of the huge network. The support/training is not dropped on your lap, but you can surely go and get it.

The Cons are so important for you to consider because:

1) No real training – at every job you’ve ever been too, if it had training, you were successful at it. It might not of worked out, but it wasn’t because you did not know what you were doing. I think this is a major factor in the business field.

Why go into a maze with no help finding your way? By the time you finally figure it out, you may be too exhausted and quit, like the other 95% of network marketers.

I received 6 months in depth training on affiliate marketing to finally be able to run this website here with the utmost of confidence, and I still receive support along with continuing education after my website has been live for more than a year now. If you’d like to check out this business opportunity, you can do so here.

100%2) Lack of reality preached – I am extremely tired of business opportunities such as the one at Rodan + Fields painting a perfect picture or sugar coating what the business opportunity really entails. You are going to go through the trenches! Starting a business is hard work. There is no real business that is easy. It becomes easy but that’s only once you’ve caught the wave, and thereafter you should expect ups and downs.

The reality is that it takes a full year for a business to be profitable, 3-5 years to completely replace your income, and 5-7 years to master the business and be financially and time free. Any other perspective is not realistic, and is going to set you up for failure. You can and will accomplish your dreams, but just know that you have to take the stairs. There is no elevator!

3) No personalized website – this is a major factor for me. Did you know, there are over 3.5 billion people online? It’s in your best interest to learn how to market a website, and extend your reach into the marketplace. You can have the best storefront in the world by learning how to do this, and it will make your path to financial freedom/success that much quicker.

A fellow Rodan+Fields representative informed us that you can obtain a personalized website for $24.95 a month. That is very steep if you ask me. I would probably learn how to build your own website and do it yourself (diy). It’s not hard and you can make the most of it as far as training to specialize in seo (search engine optimization) and driving 10,000s of visitors to your website every month.

Have you seen the numbers in the skincare industry? It’s possible. On the flipside, the personalized website could be beneficial because it requires less work. It’s already done for you. The only reason why I’m opposed of that choice is because you cannot edit it or add content. However, you could learn to promote your website on social media and leverage ppc (pay per click).

Is Rodan + Fields a Scam?

is rodan fields a pyramid schemeThis is a silly question for me, but most don’t really know what these business opportunities are about so it’s a good question. The truth is network marketing opportunities such as this one are mostly legit. Rodan + Fields was founded in 2002. It started as a retail product being sold in department stores but the Chairman of RF decided to close that chapter out and start up in the direct selling industry in 2008. Which we can all see, was a very good move.

The truth is as with every business opportunity, you have to start from the bottom (build your business from the ground up). Rodan + Fields, as other mlm opportunities, have a compensation plan that you can leverage to have a very successful business. The main objective within these businesses is that you have to sell the products and recruit others for the opportunity.

Rodan + Fields Training & Support

Don’t expect intensive or in depth training when you join Rodan + Fields. What you can expect is that your sponsor is extremely interested in teaching you to succeed. You can surely seek assistance from him/her or any other person on the team.

One of the main things about network marketing, if you don’t know already, is the team/recruits. You will be a new recruit, so they will treat you like a baby, and then you’ll eventually do the same for your own recruits. It will take time, and they should have some training videos for you to learn about product knowledge, and sales/marketing skills.

My Personal Opinion of Rodan + Fields

Is Rodan + Fields worth it? Well, that’s up to you decide. As for me, I’ll pass. Rodan + Fields is good for people who are passionate about skin care products. The best thing you can do is try the products. If they work for you, then you can be passionate about selling them. There is no use to be in business with something that you do not have a passion for. My picture perfect is doing something that does not feel like a job.

Most importantly doing something that is going to build a passive income for me to where I can sit back, relax, and collect. If I decide to take a month or two month vacation, I still get paid! You can achieve this with these type of business opportunities; network marketing and affiliate marketing. You see, I’d rather choose affiliate marketing because I can choose the products I would like to promote, and I can build my business to my own liking.

Having a network marketing business is like owning a franchise. You have to sell their products and you have to follow the rules and policies in how to promote them. There’s a whole different world out there to discover and it’s with affiliate marketing. You find a passion, build a website, drive traffic, and generate income. You can learn how to do this here.

Check Out the Income Disclosure!

rodan fields income disclosure

For a more recent income disclosure statement, follow this link.

As you can see only 2% of Rodan + Fields Active Independent Consultants are making a comfortable living. I think we both can agree that $60K a year is a pretty comfortable living. As a matter of fact, I would be happy to maintain a living off of this amount of money. I would be ecstatic to make over $600K a year! However, we can see that only .1% of Active Consultants make this. This would mean that 98% of Consultants are failing in this business. I think it would be safe to say that this is a realistic statistic across the board for network marketing.

The problem is not the company though, well partially the company, but not entirely. The problem is that most people have a false realization of how business works. You can’t plant a seed, and come back the next day and expect a full grown plant. It takes time. You’ve got to water it, nurture it, and over a few years you’ve got a full grown plant! This is how we have to look at business.

Do you have a personal experience with Rodan + Fields? Is so, I would love to hear about your personal experience with their products or service. Or, do you have any questions about this review?

  1. Thanks for letting me know exactly what is Rodan and Fields through this review. From here I clearly know the pros and cons before joining them.

But somehow from what I see Rodan and Fields are kinds of pyramid schemes. But I know there are few legit MLM companies out there.

After you said that almost 98% of people failed in this business I have a bit concern and pity of them eventually. By the way, do you have any other legitimate programs out there that able to earn money from home?

    • Hey Maxx, I’m glad I was able to help you with this review. An mlm company such as Rodan and Fields is a tricky business to get into, but it’s not impossible. It’s possible to grow your business. You would need to be comfortable with direct selling and recruiting, and then you can utilize the internet to get more leads and reach an audience online.

You can surely check out my #1 recommendation to build a new business, or you can also use it grow a business at Rodan and Fields. I’m glad you’re looking. That’s the first step in financial freedom. It’s such a big world out there with opportunities. We’ve got to show up if you want to win.

  2. This is exactly the information I’ve been looking for, thank you. Rodan + Fields is just coming to Australia now so I have received requests recently to join some peoples ‘teams’. I’ve always been sceptical of network marketing but seeing as they are also the creator of Proactive I’ve been curious about this one. I think I agree with you though, my time can be better spent on other initiatives.

    • Hey Tennille, as I was explaining to Maxx earlier, this is a tricky decision to get into Rodan and Fields. I remember going to one of their home parties in my neighborhood. A friend from work referred me to his wife’s presentation. It was pretty neat. If you think you can get into something like this, then go for it.

It’s all about marketing. That’s the name of the game. I’m into a different form but it all comes back around. Internet marketing is my niche. However, you could utilize the internet to help you grow your business at Rodan and Fields too. There so much opportunity online/offline, it would be a shame to let it go to waste.

One way or the other, good luck Tennille!

      – Jonathan

  3. Thank you for your very informative breakdown of how this company works. I was approached a week ago and this helps me feel like I have some answers that were hard to find elsewhere. It vindicated my concerns, but still contemplating on whether I want to be the 2%
Was the income disclosure showing monthly or yearly potential. Consultants have shown a similar breakdown without the full transparency and it was a monthly average.
Also, do you know how many years on an average it takes to reach any of those levels? Or know of another resource where I could find out?

    Thanks again

    • Hi Shawna, the figures on the income disclosure are yearly averages. I don’t know of any resources off the top of my head but here is a pretty good timeline to follow.

1 year – business is profitable
2-3 years – full time income
3-5 years – more than a full time income
5-7 years – Master of your field. The big bucks!

This is with any business that you might choose. Remember that all individuals may be different and excel at a different pace. Also, keep in mind you have got to work really hard at your company. Stay committed, dedicated, and active. You can and will succeed. I mean that.

      Hope this helps,

  4. I am an R+F consultant, and I think your article is misleading or wrong on many points. First, we have a TON of training available to us- you can’t see it if you aren’t a consultant, but it is substantial, both from the company, and from other consultants. In fact, there is so much of it, it can get overwhelming. So that point is entirely wrong. Second, you did not refute someone calling us a “pyramid scheme.” Pyramids are illegal, and they don’t involve selling products. The vast majority of the money in R+F is made by selling products to our customers, not other consultants. There is a 60-day empty bottle guarantee on the products, it’s #1 in North America in all price points, and it’s headed to $2 billion this year. We have clear policies and procedures and compliance rules. This isn’t a fly-by-night operation. We are also only open in 3 countries, with plans to scale up to dozens and dozens in the coming years. There is plenty of room for new people to join and be successful. I don’t know where you got this “income disclosure statement”, but that is not the official one our company gives us. It might be correct, but we are not officially given breakdowns based on Levels, because it varies. The official 2016 Income Disclosure Statement is what you should have used, because that is what we use. I attached it below. Yes, the vast majority of us are in the infancy of our business- that’s because we have only been around for under 10 years. Can’t say the same for the other big direct sales skincare companies, which are NOT doing as well as R+F… One of your commenters referenced attending a “party”. We don’t have parties, unlike most direct sales companies. We don’t offer incentives to hostesses, or carry inventory, or do online party sales, or have “territories”, either. If someone wants to have a group over to show them products or even have a full presentation to hundreds in a ballroom, it is true these do happen often, and usually as a new business launch. But leaving it out there implies we are a “party” company, and that’s not true at all. For $24.95 a month, you DO get a personalized website, if you want it. It contains the entire back-end sales data, too. It is completely professional, hosted by the company, and taken care of. But your name is at the top, and your customers know how to find you. I don’t know where you got the idea we don’t have our own websites, and if a consultant doesn’t want to spend the $24.95, he/she can skip it. It’s not required to have a business. As to whether or not it’s a scam, well, two points-1) there are no quotas or minimums to be consultants and 2)they just created 3 new incentive categories of RfX, for people with Level 1-6 team sales volumes over $3, 5 or 10 million a month. I guess you’ll have to decide for yourself…

    • Could you provide us some sort of glimpse into the training material, courses, or products? I haven’t seen any, and if it is anything like Amway, then I still think there is a lack of training. Because I used to be a member. Man, I hated it! I liked it at first, but because of the lack of training, I failed. I wouldn’t join another mlm (multi level marketing) opportunity again if it didn’t have thorough, proven training, that has been mastered by another very successful multi level marketer.

I know what you mean by Rodan+Fields not being a pyramid scheme. It is not. As you said, that would be a business who does not have an actual product. I think people use the term pyramid scheme differently. As soon as they see a multi level marketing business opportunity, they think it is. I would say corporate america is the real pyramid scheme because the CEO is at the top and makes the most money, with all the entry level workers doing all the work. I understand that multi level marketing is different, and it is a legitimate business model.

Thank you for the recent income disclosure statement. I have added it to my review. I thought I got the one on my blog from their website, or maybe it was an older version. Also, thanks for confirming that they offer a personalized website. I’ve added more information on my review pertaining to that.

Speaking of “Party”, that is one of those terms again. Much like “pyramid scheme”. I think people have their own definitions of it. I personally refer to a “party” as having a group of people over and showing a presentation of the products and opportunity available. However, I do know what you mean. There are several mlm businesses that parties are a part of their business structure, or compensation plan. Such as Paparrazzi, Sabika Jewelry, or Nerium.

Here goes a list of products that I have done reviews on that have “parties“.

Pretty interesting facts you mentioned at the end. I think that’s great that there are no minimums or quotas. I find those frustrating when I find them on different mlm businesses. Also, I’m glad people have the opportunity to make it to RfX levels. That must mean that there are people there, or that they have capabilities of making it there. I hope you will one day. Nothing but best wishes to you and thank you very much for the information. It will surely help others in search of a good business to follow.

      • Hi Jonathan – I think you make some very good points. When I first joined I was told
that we’re not a party company, but after I signed up I was told immediately that
“events” are good to have. ?? I think R&F is a great company with exceptional
products. No business is perfect, however, so I don’t get defensive when someone
points out flaws (unless they are completely uninformed and spewing out info as fact).

I’d be happy to send you some training info if you’re willing to send me your email
address or your last name so I can find you on Facebook. Mine is Cheryl Frazier

        All the best 🙂

        • Hey Cheryl! Sure, you can send it to Or you can find me on Facebook at Jon’s Reviews. I look forward to checking out the info.

Like you said, all businesses have their flaws. I too do not like when people spew out misinformation or state opinions as facts. I like to give all businesses a fair playing field. After all, I believe most vehicles are a product of their owner. If you treat the vehicle like you are supposed to, you will get the best out of it. I hope you get that.

Keep pushing on. I hope Rodan + Fields is working for you, you make great money, and can make a living out of it. Wouldn’t it be great to work our businesses full time. I believe these businesses such as yours and mine, can make it in the long term. But it will take a lot of effort, determination, and action.

Wish the best for your business,
