What is Mannatech All About?

Mannatech was founded in 1994, and now operates in 25 countries. It is a multi level marketing company that has a focus in health and nutrition, weight management, skin care, and essential oils. These are all multi billion dollar industries. It offers a Customer Loyalty Program and a distributors compensation plan. As with all MLMs, you must get promoted to higher ranks by sales volume and recruiting members to become a top earner.

Is Mannatech a Scam?

A Class Action Lawsuit in 2005 accused Mannatech of misrepresenting its products and making false claims about their beneficial properties. The company settled for $11.35 million to the class of plaintiffs. They did not admit to any wrongdoing but only settled to avoid prolonged court costs.

what is mannatech about a scamAnother investigation was done in 2006 by Texas Attorney General for deceptive trade practices. Formal charges were for operating an illegal marketing scheme. Mannatech expanded its compliance department, paid $7 million in restitution, court costs, and a civil penalty. The founder Sam Caster also agreed to stay away from any leadership or employment with the company for five years. Again they admitted to no wrongdoing but decided to settle than argue the case.

For example, if you purchase $200 worth of product, they give you 40 points which also accumulates to $40 in credit. You must have 3 months of completed autoships to redeem the credit. If you miss one month of autoship, you don’t lose your points but you need to re-order for 3 more months to redeem any credit.

When you achieve this rank, usually you have a team of 6 people. 4 product users, and 2 distributors, who help you build the business. On average these members earn a monthly estimate of $100-$600.

National Director – you need 6000 points monthly.

This consists of 15 people using the products, and helping 3 distributors to become Regional Director. Members in this rank earn, on average, between $450 – $1,850.

Executive Director – Need 20,000 points.

You need to help 3 people become National Directors. Members in this rank earn on average between $1,600 – $4,650. The company encourages you to aim for this between 6-12 months.

Presidential Director – Need 60,000 points monthly.

You need to help 3 people become Executive Directors. Members here can earn between $5,600 – $8,000. The company encourages you to hit this goal between 1-5 years.

Platinum Presidential Director – Top rank – these members receive on average $40k or more a month.

You need to help 3 people reach Presidential Director. If you help 4 people reach $100k/year, you will be earning $500k a year.

How Much Does it Cost to Join Mannatech?

$10 to join

The joining fee is waived if you decide to purchase products instead. Their business packs range from $50 to $1000.

When you join, you get a welcome kit. Gain access to training and mentoring, conference calls and regional and national trainings, resource guides and tools, online resources including virtual back office, and a mobile app for building your business.

My Final Opinion of Mannatech

I only give Mannatech 1 Star because I don’t see anything remarkable about the business opportunity. This is a basic MLM, which I see often, that has overpriced products and concentrates on direct selling and recruiting. If you choose to join Mannatech, a word of advice, see the business all the what is mannatech about a scamway through. The only way to financial freedom is through hard work and dedication. It usually takes 5-7 years to build a strong and wealthy business.

I refrain from working for an MLM because I hate direct selling and recruiting. I rather build a business from the comfort of my own home. I choose to leverage the internet. Did you know there is over $1 trillion in sales taking place on the internet annually? With a storefront of over 3.2 billion users today, you can build an online business and a residual income online.

  1. Hi Jonathan, thanks for a really informative review. I’m always sceptical of MLM systems, although if they are supported by a good product with a decent margin then they can work. It’s really great that you have share retail and associate prices – this highlights how little money you can make at retail, this in it’s self means i’ll give it a miss.

I have recently set up a health and fitness site, do you know of any other affiliate/MLM progams that would be more lucrative?

    • Hi Mike, I can completely relate to you by what you said, the profit margin in the products are not much at all. I would argue that if you’re interested in working in an mlm, finding one with a bigger profit margin on retail products would be good, but it’s not what’s solely important. You see, most of the financial independence comes from your downline. This is where the real passive income comes because you can earn a percentage and bonuses from them.

The life of an mlm organization is in the downline. You can sell a thousand products a month, but you won’t make $1000s a month until you have a large organization. That’s the way it works. I steer away from mlms because I highly dislike selling and recruiting, but I could point you into the direction you’re looking for. Check out any of the ‘Good MLMs’ that I have listed in ‘the Good’ menu at the top of this page. You could incorporate any of those within your website. A couple that I can think of in the health and fitness field would be Herbal Life or Isagenix.

  2. You say that Mannatech has been around since 1994. I have never even heard of them. Does it operate world wide?

I agree with you that their products are quite expensive and the commissions are small, but the big question is do the products live up to their promises? If they do then the price is right.

I prefer to promote a variety of products from different sources rather than sticking to one company. If I don’t have a downline to worry about, it is easier for me.

    • Michel, I can’t help but laugh because I feel the same way when I find some of these mlms. I have never heard of them! Some of these include Market America (25 years), Total Life Changes (15 years), or Forever Living (39 years). Crazy right? I run into to these because I’m actually searching for home based businesses to review for fellow readers. I’m in the fight for financial freedom as well, and so I’m determined to help the whole world work from home. 🙂 Also, you may know that mlms choose to expand their width in this world by word of mouth or the internet; you won’t find advertisements on the tv.

Mannatech is actually worldwide, well at least in over 25 countries.

Their products may be good, but I wouldn’t spend that much on them no way! Even if I was a millionaire I wouldn’t spend money on these pricey products, unless of course I was making a profit off of them. What I’ve found with these mlm products, from my experience with Amway, is they are natural products, and concentrated so they go a long way, but as Americans we are so accustomed to the cheaper products and the fizz, and the good smells, it’s becomes better for us to just purchase the store brands.

Talking about affiliate marketing, it’s one of the only ways I know that you can sell any product you want and make money from it. Literally right?! Take Amazon for example, the world’s largest online marketplace. With affiliate marketing, you can build a website, promote the products, and make a lot of commissions off of them. I learned how to do this here. This is definitely a game changer!

      Take care Michel,

    • I can personally testify that the products absolutely work. I tried to sell it once a long time ago but people were
skeptical about mlm and the high product prices, and at the time I lacked the confidence to make money with it,
but if you’re looking for one of the best supplements on the planet, look no further. The only reason I’m looking
into it again is because of my health. Im not really a fan of direct selling, but I highly recommend this plant
based nutrition. At the time I was involved with the company I was taking the multivitamin and ambrotose and
my health soared. I was literally astounded. The cost is high, but when you consider the alternatives, it’s a no

      • Hey Debbie, thanks for helping out with your comment. I don’t doubt that the nutritional products at Mannatech are top notch. I used to sell for Amway, and I can say the same about their products. Definitely pricey, but as you said, when you consider the alternatives, it’s not a hard decision.

That is, if you can swing the cost. I was taking the multivitamin, called Double X, and my health was soaring as well. Not to mention, it gave me so much energy, like too much. Haha I had to make sure to take them with a meal, if not, it would give me the jitters.

  3. Mannatech is an amazing company, there product
s are pricey but it’s because there’s no other prod
uct like it and it works. I was diagnosed with Chro
nes and was told by doctors that I’d live the rest o
f my life with it, instead I took Mannatech and 2 ye
ars later (after taking the products everyday) I hav
e been told I no longer have Chrones. I will be for
ever grateful to this company for its transparency
and for all the lives it has saved, improved and ch

    • Wow, Tyde, that is an amazing testimony. Thank you for sharing! I’m sure it will help others make a decision whether to join or not. I don’t think Mannatech is a pyramid scheme. I do believe that mlm business models such as these are legit. As we can tell from your testimony, the products are legit as well.

I had that idea that they offered some great quality products. I’m sure with that price tag, you have no other choice, but to offer the best and the finest ingredients. I love to real life success stories like yourself’s. I believe people can make a lot of money with this company.

It will take strategy. You have got to market online and offline to maximum exposure. Leverage your team, hold meetings, offer promotional materials; build an email marketing campaign. There are a number of way to generate leads online. You can learn how to here. It’s free to start, so it won’t cost you a penny.

There are other products such as My Lead System Pro, or Power Lead System to help you do this too. One way or the other, people are leaving a lot of money on the table by not utilizing the internet for leads. Hope this helps. I know you must feel like you owe a tremendous debt to Mannatech, and I hope that you will be successful with them.

      The best,
